The Football Academy at Drumglass HS provides the opportunity for all pupils to develop and test their footballing skills in weekly training sessions and regular competitive fixtures against other schools.   Our teams compete in the Mid Ulster Small Schools league and also in the Northern Ireland Small Schools Cup.

Manchester United Trip

In the last few years at Drumglass High School The Football Academy has run a very successful trip to Old Trafford in Manchester to see a Manchester United match. This is a rewards trip for those who attend The Football Academy throughout the year and is open to both boys and girls from year 8 to year 12.
We usually set off from Drumglass High School in the early hours of the morning of the match in order to catch the 8am ferry from Dublin to Holyhead, Wales. We then travel from the port in Holyhead to The Trafford Centre (A huge shopping centre located 3.5 miles from Old Trafford) where we squeeze in a couple of hours shopping before the match. Next, we travel to the stadium around two hours before kick-off to take advantage of a few photo opportunities and to soak up the atmosphere. We tend to enter the stadium one hour prior to kick-off. After the match, we spend one night in a hotel about 30 minutes from the stadium. The next day we set off for home in the morning and we generally arrive home by 8pm.
The trip has been a huge success over the past few years and has sold out within minutes. We encourage perspective trip goers to attend Football Academy each week, do their best academically in school and ensure that they have paid the school fund in order to increase the chances of getting on the trip.
