Tyrone and Fermanagh Cup
The Year 11 netball team took to the court today in the Tyrone and Fermanagh Cup finals. In a thrilling display of skill and team work a hard earned victory emerged for the Drumglass girls.
6 schools qualified for the cup today and in the initial round robin stages Drumglass encountered just one defeat from our neighbouring, St Patrick’s College team who finished top of the group after the preliminary rounds.
These 2 top teams went head to head in a highly contested final.
Katelyn’s accuracy in the shooting D began with a convincing 5 nil lead for Drumglass. St Patrick’s ladies dug deep and began to fight back for the triumph but time did not allow. 6 more goals scored until the final whistle blew with Drumglass on top by just 1 goal. Finishing score of 6-5 in favour of Drumglass.
A relentless display of precision and control under pressure sealed the deal for this well deserved success.
These girls have committed to hours of training and truly deserved to reap the rewards today. Our versatile team captain Lucy was supported impeccably by cousin Clara to turnover attacks and create lavish scoring opportunities. Goal shooter Sarah displayed confidence in attack when tallying up her scores.
Defending quad Kaitlin, Louise,
Chloe and Natalie bossed the defending third intercepting attack after attack to ensure Drumglass girls finished on top. Centre court again was dominated by Rylea who controlled the play with her commendable effort of speed and fluidity up and down the court.
Well done to all the schools and staff involved for an extremely enjoyable day.
