English Language is compulsory for every student

The skills of communication are key to life and GCSE English Language is vital in helping pupils to develop these skills. Throughout KS3, pupils have been working on the skills in the three key areas of Reading, Writing and Speaking and Listening as a foundation for GCSE. Throughout the GCSE course, pupils will:

• build confidence in their own spoken communication in different contexts as well as

• understand how others use spoken language in a range of contexts. 

• develop further the ability to understand writers' intentions and how they are achieved

• develop further the skills of writing clearly, imaginatively and persuasively
